New Burnout Crash details revealed, still unconfirmed

Last week we reported that the Australian ratings board received a filing from EA for a new game titled Burnout Crash. Joystiq investigated the filing, and today received the following synopsis from the Aussie authority: "An action arcade style game set in the fictional world of Crash City. The aim of the game is to cause as much damage as possible to traffic and buildings by crashing a car into them."

So Burnout Crash is about crashing cars and takes place in Crash City? Apparently EA is now being run by me, age five.

Nothing further has been revealed, and neither EA, nor the presumed developer, Criterion Games, has officially confirmed the game. Joystiq suggests that the game's 'crash mode' focus may indicate that it's a smaller, downloadable title, which does seem likely.

Replays, replays, replays. Why on Earth they ever did away with them is beyond me. I guess they got in the way of the Free Roam. With today's technology, we should be able to capture our most spectacular crashes, position cameras, edit, upload, trade, etc. C'mon, EA!

@S0ULEATER Its not just about the freeroaming, it altered the gameplay aswell, others game would have you on wicked circuits on all sorts of places, designed to have a competitive yet dangerous race as your opponents were always with you... in Paradise, a race starts everyone has to get to the same place, yet everyone takes a different route, it ends up feeling like a time attack as you hardly get to have contact with the other racers...

Yeah, when I was reading the gameplay synopsis, it screamed "Downloadable Game". I just have a hard time picturing a big budget game built around the concept...

By the wording used in the yet unconfirmed quote, I would say that the Australian video games ratings board doesn't like the sound of the synopsis of the game.

I put maybe 250-300 hours into Burnout Paradise, and it is easily one of my favorite games of all time. Put Paradise's open world in a game and have most of the races be closed circuit within the city. Only way they could have improved it.

I liked the free-roaming just fine, I just wish there was an option to just skip ahead to a specific event without having to drive across the entire friggin' city.

What tysr36 said. (Recaptcha appears to be in Spanish. I guess it's muy bien I started learning it then!)
  • S0ULEATER - April 14, 2011 2:46 a.m.

I enjoyed the free roaming a lot then again i wasn't a fan of burnout before paradise So did it seem more focused before or do you guys just not like freeroam
  • tysr36 - April 14, 2011 12:35 a.m.

So, Burnout 3 but with building damage. fucking sold
  • Arehexes - April 14, 2011 12:25 a.m.

As long as there is no free roaming I am happy
  • chriszewski - April 14, 2011 12:15 a.m.

Takedown was one of my favs in the past, solely because of Crash Mode. The "thing" they included in Paradise just wasn't the same.
  • EnragedTortoise1 - April 14, 2011 midnight

Burnout needs the latest version of Frostbite. That is all.
  • Z-man427 - April 13, 2011 11:51 p.m.

I've always wanted building damage in a Burnout game.
  • RicePuddingUK - April 13, 2011 11:50 p.m.

Point Of Impact is still my favourite. Didn't like Paradise with all its free-roam nonsense.
  • Phazon117 - April 13, 2011 11:06 p.m.

    Burnout fanboy all the way.
  • Jesse1066 - April 13, 2011 11:06 p.m.

Damage to buildings? This sounds awesome!
