William Gibson’s 1984 cyberpunk classic to be made into a film by Splice director
Neuromancer has had a far-reaching influence on the SF of the past 25 years, and was one of the first SF novels to really explore and exploit cyberspace. The question is, can Natali make it relevant to today, when many of its ideas, so original and influential at the time, might seem overly familiar to audiences brought up on the likes of The Matrix ? Even the whole cyberpunk ethos seems a bit past its sell-by date now. Then again, maybe the film can find a new style and angle to reignite the genre. It certainly deserves it. Natali, you are a brave man.
