Need for Speed Undercover

Is Undercover a return to open-world sandbox racing? Won’t the narrative force a more linear approach to be taken?

Cops and free-roaming environments are back. We’ve also incorporated a deep and engaging narrative that provides the player with the context and motivation to progress through the game. This year, you play a rookie cop recruited to infiltrate organized gangs, accomplishing objectives to become a known wheelman. It’s from this position on the inside that you work to gain the gangs’ confidence and take down the operation.

What sort of game modes can we look forward to? Are we likely to see highway battles, pink slip racing and the like?

There are literally hundreds of race experiences across multiple race modes. The most dramatic new mode is the all-new highway battle, where we push the chase concept to the limit. These pulse-quickening multi-car chases require steady hands and split-second timing for players to take out their prey while fighting off cops and other adversaries.

How do you think NFS: Undercover will differentiate itself from games such as Rockstar’s Midnight Club: Los Angeles?

Undercover is all about the thrill of the chase. It's the ultimate fusion of stellar next- generation gameplay and an engaging story with every component embodying the excitement and energy of the chase. Without a doubt, Undercover is a complete action driving experience.

What plans do you have for the multiplayer elements?

We are very excited about our online and multiplayer modes. I think we’ll be delivering something quite unique this year. We’ll be talking more about the details later on.

Will Undercover’s damage system be purely cosmetic or will it affect performance and handling?

Undercover features the real time procedural damage we introduced in ProStreet but we’ve removed the impact it has on performance. That doesn’t mean players can't destroy their cars though, because damage will still play a role – especially on some of the missions you’re asked to complete.

Speaking of handling, are you going for pure arcade, simulation or a balance of both?

This year, we have created the all-new Heroic Driving Engine. This physics engine gives the player the ability to complete high-performance driving maneuvers as they push the car.

this is going to be the best NFS ever made. i already preordered it and cant wait til it comes out. especially with cars like the Bugatti, GT2, Ford GT, Koenigsegg, DB9, 911 GTS RS, CLS 63, Gallardo, Pagani Zonda F, Nissan GTR, IS-F, Audi R8, and the BMW M6 and M3. with these kind of cars in the game who wuldnt want to buy it? dont believe me about the carlist i just gave? go to www.needforspeed.com and click on tri-city car lot at the bottom and see for yourself...o and make sure you click the upper right hand corner scroll button cuz it shows the recent updates and old updates also..CHECK IT OUT! peace

As a fellow need for speed lover. i thought pro street was the worst nfs game ever made. But after reading the review to undercover, this will be the best nfs game yet to come.

Man, this game is going to be off the hook! I am a loving fan of NFS, so this is the next one to my collection. GO UNDERCOVER.

As a matter of fact, Most Wanted is my favourite NFS game. I even bought the bargain bin 360 port so I could have it in semi-decent kinda-HD glory. I've been wanting a true "this-gen" NFS game since then, and ProStreet certainly didn't count.

one good thing about this NFS game is that free-roaming is back in ProStreet they did not have it that why i did not like that game but this one looks good.

this games prolly gonna kick ass. maggie Q is pretty damn hot. I would like to see some in car driving perspective, not enough games have that. gives it more of a realistic feel, even tho its supposed to be a little over the top. the screens look badass tho. hopefully BMW signed on for the ride, and not just with the played out M3. love to see an M5 and M6 make it to one of these games. Im also disappointed with the absence of ferrari. Im a lambo fan, but you gotta have ferrari too. they got some badass cars that look pimp when u customize em. well see tho.

I own the old nfs hot pruisuit 2 and started buying all nfs after that, i was trully disapointed with pro street ( yes good graphics, but way off what nfs is known for : cops chasing you down, heliocopters following you, roadblocks and so on) i almost decided to quit with nfs afetr pro street but after hearing all the hype and reviews i give them one more chance

can't wait, if undercover is anyfing like most wanted, i want it
  • likedamaster - September 20, 2008 9:49 p.m.

I thought Carbon was better than Most Wanted, especially with the extreme customizations, the many online modes, and all the concept cars they had available. Not to mention the downloadables. I liked the Most Wanted chick better though. Looking forward to this game, no doubt. I have always been a NFS fan, wasn't a prostreet fan so much.
  • wharcraff - September 16, 2008 3:36 p.m.

I'm hoping that this will have most of the new nissans in it, not just the skyline. Can't wait.
  • quericko - September 15, 2008 7:26 p.m.

  • fish94 - September 14, 2008 1:54 p.m.

Hopefully this will be like undergroud two but with police. undergroud two was better than most wanted in most aspects, but the two together would eb perfect.
