Fundamentals:
Around the World – Five teammates will be lined up around
the three-point line. You will be on defense. You have fifteen tries to get
three strikes on each player. Strikes are earned by preventing the shooter from
making a basket. Once a teammate has three strikes, they are eliminated. This
is a great drill for learning how to defend properly, and is one of the better
drills for earning high VC consistently.
2-man rebound and post-up – You and another teammate will be
fighting for rebounds on shots taken from the top of the three-point line.
Whoever gets the rebound then gets to take a shot from the low post. You have
twenty chances to grab the board and take the shot. This drill takes a lot of
time, and doesn’t really provide much in the way of return of investment.
That’s not to say it’s difficult, it’s just that you could be earning a better
volume of VC elsewhere in the time it takes to complete this drill just once.
Screen and read – Learning the pick and roll, and how to
defend against it, is an important fundamental that can be key to your success
on the court. This drill will put you in the role of the defender, the
screener, and the ballhandler (five tries each). It’s incredibly easy to earn
VC in this drill, and is one of the few drills that will test you on multiple
aspects of your game.
