Now that his Pirate brigands are busy a-plundering the worldwide box office (given how many cinemas At World’s End is opening in, the movie’s probably breaking a ticket sales record as you read this), Jerry Bruckheimer can get on with teasing the next instalment of a more surprisingly successful franchise.
The whole team from National Treasure is back for Book Of Secrets, the sequel, which means the likes of Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger and Harvey Keitel are back for another hectic chase after an important relic that holds the key to a massive mystery.
This time, it’s the missing 18 pages from the diary of John Wilkes Booth, AKA the man who shot Abraham Lincoln. Apparently, these missing pages contain hidden clues to a huge worldwide conspiracy. Boy, is he going to be disappointed when he discovers they really hold Booth’s thoughts on why Lincoln’s beard looks really stupid.
Newcomers this time around include Ed Harris and Helen Mirren, who passed up lunch with the Queen to keep shooting with Nic and co. We don’t get to see very much of any of them in this teaser trailer, but if you enjoyed the averagely entertaining run-around that was the last movie, chances are this’ll get your torches burning. Or, er, something.
