Mystery female role in Superman is villainess Ursa

After the news that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike were auditioning for Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel , speculation was rife as to which role they were vying for.

Well, Latino Review report that a trusted source has confirmed that the role up for grabs is Kryptonian villainess Ursa.

The character previously appeared in Superman and Superman II , played by Sarah Douglas (above).

As she's an accomplice of General Zod, this latest rumour has fuelled speculation that he'll also be on villain duty.

Latino Review also state that Lois Lane will be appearing in the movie, despite recent whispers to the contrary.

Legal issues have dogged this latest screen version of Superman . The film is being made against the clock, to avoid lawsuits with the Shuster and Siegel estates for lost revenue

It's possible that they're required to use the character under the complicated contractual obligations that arose during the lawsuit, and let's be honest, could there be a Superman movie without Lois?

There's no word yet on who'll play her, but as Brit Henry Cavill was officially announced as the new Supes last week, expect to hear more casting details very soon.

Maybe Snyder will give the role to one of his Sucker Punch ladies...
