MX vs ATV Untamed

Games are supposed to be fun, not work

Someone in charge of the PSP version of MX vs ATV Untamed apparently decided for reasons that will never be understood, “Hey! I know! Let’s take all of the incredible options we provide the player on the home consoles, and put them in the PSP version, but then let’s take them all away from the player and make him work for them!”

“Also, let’s not explain how to do anything, and just throw the player into a free-roaming world to figure it out himself!”

If you’re one of the majority who do not read instruction manuals, the PSP version of Untamed will likely provide the most confusing initial experience of any racing game you’ve ever encountered. At first, everything seems normal. There’s a main menu, with X-cross and Multiplayer modes. Okay, makes sense. We started with X-cross, then chose our rider and vehicle (With everything except for two choices locked), then “chose” our location (with everything locked except one place).

Suddenly, we’re at the starting line with other racers. Huh? We didn’t pick an event type or track. And we’re off! We’re following the other racers… but there isn’t a track. Where are we going? Several racers veer off in different directions. Wha? Which one do we follow?
