When Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz bailed on David Cronenberg’s The Talking Cure , the Baron of Blood went straight to old chum Viggo Mortensen to replace him.
And while they’ve been concocting their version of Sigmund Freud for the big screen, it seems the pair have been nattering about a sequel to Eastern Promises .
The twosome previously teamed up for 2007’s Promises after A History Of Violence , and won all kinds of accolades – Mortensen even got nominated for an Oscar.
So it’s not really a surprise that the duo want to revisit the universe they created there. Deadline report that, while the sequel hasn’t got a title yet, scribe Steven Knight has been scribbling a follow-up anyway.
As yet, Naomi Watts hasn’t signed up for the film, but expect her to jump on equally as eagerly as the original trio.
Meanwhile, Cronenberg and Mortensen are uniting in May to shoot The Talking Cure , which sees Freud (Mortensen) sparring with Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) over how to treat Keira Knightley’s beleaguered patient.
Think a sequel has promise?
