Multiplayer hunts - an integral part of the PS2 version - will be present as well (if somewhat de-emphasized), and you'll be able to hook up with up to three teammates via an ad hoc connection. There's also a Treasure Hunters mode, which tasks two players with tracking down certain items to unlock special prizes.
With its lush environments, roaring monsters and grand sense of scale, Monster Hunter Freedom is already shaping up to be one of the best-looking, best-playing games on the PSP. Seeing as the Japanese version has already hit retail, it's unlikely that something drastic and horrible could happen to its development in the next month. So unless it does, we're definitely looking forward to this one.
