Since we enjoyed sharing our personal favorite games of 2010, we thought it was only appropriate to share the games that most let us down last year, the games that most drew our vitriolic ire. These aren't objectively the worst games of 2010 - they are the ones that most rubbed us the wrong way. There are even fantastic games on this list, but if everyone loved the same things, we wouldn't all be unique slowflakes in the great blizzard of life, now would we...

We’re going old-school with our pick today, a six month-old game based upon a 13 year-old original. But time has not dulled the sparkle of this gothic match-3 gem. Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night follows the exact same story as the classic 2D action game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night – in fact, you even explore the same areas and fight the same enemies. But this time, instead of exploring a sprawling castle and hacking and slashing foes in real time, you do it by matching colored gems. The game has been turned into a puzzle RPG. Think of it as Super Puzzle Fighter II with a dash of Puzzle Quest and a Castlevania makeover. Or, if you don’t know any of those games, think of it as head-to-head Bejeweled with a plot...

Hello, 2011! With TRON fever back in action recently, we're taking a look at the TRON: Legacy licensed game for iPad, as well as the wholly unexpected (and surprisingly enjoyable) Jenga HD. But we're also exploring a couple of recent original favorites in the form of iBomber Defense and Little Things, as well as one of the iPad's true classics, Flight Control HD. And not only that, but everything here can be had for $5 or less. Bargains!

When the original NOVA: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance launched on iPhone at the end of 2009, the stellar campaign, sharp visuals, and worthwhile online multiplayer battles set a standard for first-person shooters on the platform. True, it was hard to look past the obvious "influence" of the Halo series - in other words, NOVA was practically a cut-and-paste job. However, it was a damned impressive cut-and-paste of a beloved series, so we played it and liked it anyway. And NOVA 2 is looking to raise the bar just like Halo 2 did back in the day – with added variety and beefed-up multiplayer...

If you somehow took The Legend of Zelda, Ys, and Chrono Trigger and combined them into one single game, then crammed it onto a mobile phone, what you’d get would look a lot like Across Age. It’s an epic action RPG with lots of puzzle solving and time travelling, and it’s dripping with retro 16-bit charm...

Sasquatch. Bigfoot. The Abominable Snowman. There are many names associated with the elusive, (definitely not fake) ape-men... eh, thingies. Contrary to what Harry and the Hendersons would have you believe, though, most would rather chow down on your colon than forge an interspecies friendship. In video games especially, your average mythical ape would like nothing more than introduce you to that big game over screen in the sky. So pack some animal tranquilisers and a hacksaw, as we take you on a tour of some of gaming’s greatest yetis and sasquatch. Oh, and watch out for that bastard who makes the soup.
App Store releases often pop up throughout the year without a lot of collective fanfare, but last Thursday, December 16 was an anomaly: nearly a dozen high-profile iPad and iPhone games launched on the same day, in a final push before Apple broke for Christmas. While some of those releases have yet to see native iPad releases (including Real Racing 2 and Hook World), we're covering a few of the more notable titles this week, including World of Goo and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Enjoy!

Thanks to the now-crusty Geometry Wars, twin-stick shooters are absolutely everywhere. And that includes the App Store, where the genre is oversaturated despite the iPhone’s lack of control sticks. But Critical Wave is still worth playing for its great upgrade system, some formidable enemy baddies, and a unique control scheme...

Another week, another pile of evidence that iPhone isn’t the only game in town (though even we have to admit Infinity Blade is awesome). No matter! We’ll drown our sorrows with these ample offerings...
