"As morally bankrupt graverobber Robert Graves,"
I died laughing. Seriously.
Y'know what? I'm making a declaration. Declaring something, right here and now in this comments section that will be as irrefutable as anything else ever written on the Internet.
This is hands-down the greatest continuously updated humor article in the history of man.
There. Now it is undeniable.

...and now I'm going to have to search youtube so I can sing along to the Cities of Gold theme tune like I did when I was a kid, thanks a bunch Mr Towell! I wonder if Andy Crane would still send me a lyric sheet if I wrote to him....

MS already stated that always on would be at the discretion of the game publishers. Obviously the professional game journalists at Games Radar haven't been doing their homework.

It just really feels irresponsible to be feeding craziness. "Always on, Always Connected" is not in anyway if you don't have great internet connection the system won't work. It doesn't mean draconian DRM. Always on, is simply that, it doesn't go into a full powered down state. This is good because that means it'll boot faster. That's always talked about as a great thing for other devices. We rarely shut out phones off. We don't shut down our cable boxes. I can't remember the last time I turned my computer off. Probably some vacation that took over a week.
When you combine always on with always connected you get updates of all sorts pushed down. First they can do this when the internet isn't a busy a bonus for the whole world, and you no longer have to wait for these things when you want to play. That's brilliant. Poor PS3 owners cringed at every update. While it wasn't nearly as bad on the 360 getting rid of that wait all together would be really welcome.
Again, now where does this indicate you can't play a local game if you don't have a connection.
Honestly, journalist should be calling BS on this hysteria not feeding it. The article contending that because the box would always be on and connected means you need to consider it as if you had another high use app running constantly is irresponsible at best. It's not busy sucking up bandwidth just sitting there, in a sleep state.
All that bandwidth research would have been a lot better off discussion a rumors that aren't full of FUD. Like the miniXbox. Now you can start talking about playing a multiplayer game on your console, streaming some netflix to your old 360 and reading the lates Gamesradar article on your minixbox and what kind of bandwidth that would take. IDK maybe talk to your IT guy and give folks some pointers on how to set up their router for optimal performance. Maybe warn them about that old laptop with the wifi b adapter crushing their N network, Pull the wire people.

QotW answer: I think Microsoft will announce a system in that, on first-party titles at least, you can buy each mode of a game separately, as well as paying the normal price for the full game.

Since always. Villains can be just as varied as heroes in their personalities and drives. Caius and her can be considered "Anti-Villains", but villains all the same.

I'm not seeing much of the controversy, considering they're no longer blocking any of the videos, but instead having ads placed at some point within. And YT ads are usually one-shot things you can skip after 5-10 secs.

I haven't really thought about the issue
On one hand, it's a dick move, and can really hurt advertisements that are otherwise free.
However on the other more realistic side, It's a copyright law nobody ever listens too, other companies have outright deleted and banned anyone from doing it while Nintendo is only really stopping people who think they can make money out of sitting down and playing a game while talking.
There are tons are LPers who do it for the fun of it and don't expect money, and frankly the only people who DO deserve the money are people who kick their butts off of series featuring games and review places and such that take effort, not just simply sitting down, playing a game and expecting money out of it all of a sudden, that's like telling a restraunt to pay you just to eat there.

Fable's house management system comes to mind. If a landlord in real life is negligent in his/her duties to the property they rent out, then yeah, I can see it looking a bit shabby. But, in Fable III, if you forget to repair your houses for a week or so, they turn into backdrops for an apocalypse movie. Seriously, I forget to fix the sink and all of a sudden you board up the house CoD zombies style and stop paying rent?

Also, Dead Island makes complete sense. If I were to smack someone repeatedly with a crowbar, eventually it would turn into a state where it's like hitting them with jelly. What's not to believe?
How about being shot all over your body, having a smidgen of health left and then you die from jumping from a ledge that's just too high or being tapped by a vehicle, or using one of your examples, making Snake have a cigarette? Get hit by a tank shell, get shot by a minigun and a Harrier jet and then die from one drag on a cig. Makes sense to me

Be sure to let everyone know that its EA doing away with the unpopular thing that EA introduced to the world. Can't take credit for it if whatever is coming next is going to do it for you anyways.
