Minecraft may come to PlayStation, Wii U “unlikely”

Indie smash hit Minecraft could launch on PlayStation platforms in the future, but a Wii U release isn’t on the cards.

Jens Bergensten, lead designer of Minecraft Pocket Edition at Swedish studio Mojang, told iGamer (via Edge): "Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out we'll consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely."

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition sales have surpassed five million copies since the title’s release last May, helping make it the most purchased Xbox Live Arcade game of 2012. The franchise has shifted over 20 million copies across all platforms. Mojang reportedly brought in just under $100 million in profits last year.

Isn't this fad over yet? Are the console peeps catching up still?

I don't know if I'd call it a fad, the game's had a strong following for 3+ years.

I agree with Z-man. You could customize a hotbar or something on the gamepad so that you could make an item with just one tap without needing to go into your inventory. You could even just move the HuD onto the gamepad :| I guess they're just looking for the console that will sell the most or perhaps it's not an easy port for them. Missed opportunity imo

But it would work so well on the Gamepad. Come on Mojang!
