Metal Slug XX, indie platformers storm PlayStation Network

PlayStation Network is getting a whole heaping helping of sidescrolling action, starting this week.

Sony announced that Metal Slug XX will join the suite of free PlayStation Plus games starting on Tuesday. The PlayStation Portable native, Vita-compatible remake of Metal Slug 7 is the latest title in the classic arcade action series. It's $20 for non-Plus members.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation Store Play promotion will offer increasing cash reward vouchers for those who purchase two or more included titles. This summer's lineup is Stealth Inc. coming July 23, Cloudberry Kingdom coming July 30, ibb & obb coming August 6, and DuckTales Remastered coming August 13.

Buying any two of the Play titles gets you a $3 PSN voucher, while three gets you a $6 voucher, and buying all four nets a $10 voucher. Take note, Thomas Was Alone fans--even the lowest voucher reward is enough to snag Benjamin's Flight ($2.49 or $1.74 for Plus Members), a new DLC narrative which takes place before the events of the main game.
