The action in all of these modes looks like a third-person shooter, with an over-the-shoulder view and a controllable camera, but the gameplay is pure Metal Gear. After equipping themselves with a pistol, a rifle and something throwable, players can flatten against walls, hide in boxes, crawl through ducts and stun foes with hand-to-hand pummeling. Even the girlie mags from the single-player game can be scattered around to stop other players dead in their tracks. Meet certain conditions during a match, and you'll be able to play as major characters from the story mode, each with a unique ability. Dr. Sokolov, for instance, can use stealth camouflage to turn invisible, while Raikov stuns foes with a debilitating crotch grab.
