Fox Searchlight has kindly put up a somewhat freakish website for Dr Ronald Chevalier, one of the main characters in Napoleon Dynamite helmer Jared Hess’ latest, Gentlemen Broncos.
Flight Of The Conchords/Eagle Vs Shark’s Jermaine Clement plays Chevalier, who comes off as the warped crossbreed between an Austin Powers character and Scientology creator L Ron Hubbard, in the film.
He’s a cheesy sci-fi author who sponsors a retreat attended by a high-school scribe and fan (Michael Angaro). Trouble is, the young writer discovers that Chevalier, starved for ideas, has ripped his story off.
Musical inspiration
The latest video posted to Chevalier’s site , which you can see below, finds him expounding on music as one of his influences, and how “to inspire myself, I turn to myself…”
Just the videos alone make us want to see the film right now – Clement’s performance is in the fine tradition of Matthew Holness’ Garth Marenghi.
The movie itself doesn’t have a release date yet (it’s still being edited) but it also stars Sam Rockwell and Jennifer Coolidge and should be out next year.
