Maximum Ride Takes Wing

The James Patterson novels about teens with wings takes a step closer to big screen reality

The project, about a group of genetically modified teenagers with wings being pursued by half-human, half-wolf creatures called Erasers, had been in development at Columbia, but is now set to jump studios to Universal, after Columbia failed to move forward with the film. Former Marvel movie boss Avi Arad is set to produce along with his son, Ari Arad, and Steven Paul, and a new script is being prepped by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, whose credits include Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens .

Universal must clearly be thinking they have a potential new Twilight -style franchise on their hands.
