Matt Damon says he would play a superhero, but only for Ben Affleck

Matt Damon has been a part of a couple big franchises in his career, but he's yet to sign up for a role in a comic book movie. Ahead of this month's release of the fifth film in the Bourne series Damon was asked whether playing a superhero was in his future, and he gave an interesting response:

"I’d consider anything with the right director, but I can’t imagine there are any superheroes left, I think they’re all taken at this moment", Damon told The Irish Examiner. "If [Ben Affleck] was directing me, I’d jump on it in a New York minute. I’d love to work with Ben. The problem with Ben is every time he directs a movie, he gives himself the best role in it, so until he’s willing to give up the best role to one of his friends, we’re not going to get on with it".

It's a shame that we'll probably never see Jason Bourne in a Marvel or DC movie; Although the character is not a superhero, he'd probably be able to give either Batman or Captain America a run for their money. It would be interesting to see who Damon would play if he ever took on a superhero role - Robin and Nightwing haven't been cast yet, but something tells me that won't be up Damon's alley. In any case, it seems our hopes of a Matt Damon superhero movie now lie with his BFF Ben Affleck. Make it happen guys!

Directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Matt Damon, Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel, Tommy Lee Jones, and Riz Ahmed, Jason Bourne is released in UK cinemas on July 27, 2016 before opening in US theatres on July 29, 2016.
