Madagascar 3 gets a trailer

The first trailer for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted has landed online.

Despite it being a threequel that no one was too desperate for, there's actually a fair few chuckles in this promo.

The zoo escapees ended up in Africa at the end of a largely forgettable Part II, but, as the subtitle indicates, the gang hit Europe this time round.

There's a couple of strong sight gags, and the penguins are as reliable as ever when it comes to scoring laughs.

Having the characters chased across Europe looks like it'll give the franchise a boost of freshness when they could have just microwaved earlier ideas.

Intriguingly, the script for this one comes courtesy of Noah Baumbach (writer/director of The Squid And The Whale and Greenberg ).

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted opens on 19 October 2012.
