Some movie titles openly tempt fate. Ranking alongside Disaster Movie and Big Nothing in the appropriate moniker states is Mad, Sad & Bad, a British-Asian comedy that may not be mad or sad but is... Well, you’ve guessed it.
Meera Syal leads the cast as a dowdy librarian who needs a decent date to keep her cranky mum (Leena Dhingra) happy. Meanwhile her brothers, a sex-mad psychiatrist (Zubin Varla) and a writer of TV “shitcoms” (Nitin Ganatra), aren’t doing much better in the romance stakes.
And so it trundles along, another underachieving comedy to file and forget in British cinema’s already overstuffed bottom drawer. Yawn.

Unimpressive britcom that does little to raise a laugh
