Minds were blown yesterday when the first full-length trailer for Luke Cage hit the web. Marvel's third Netflix series looks like it has some similarities to Daredevil and Jessica Jones - that authentic street-level grit of both shows is present - while also making clear that this is Cage's time to shine. Aside from the inclusion of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, you might not even know the three are connected in terms of plot. Oh, but they are.
This newest batch of images from the Agent of Marvel Facebook page make it abundantly clear that Cage's story shares a lot of the same beats as Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones' own tales. Check 'em out:
With the action relocated to Harlem, Cage is out in his neighborhood getting justice - just like his two New York City comrades. But there's a different war being waged. On the streets there's Cottonmouth Stokes and his army of thugs, and in the political arena it's Stokes' cousin Mariah Dillard. That bulletproof skin will definitely come in handy.
Starring Mike Colter, Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson, Frank Whaley, and Sônia Braga, season 1 of Marvel's Luke Cage arrives in its entirety on Netflix September 30, 2016.
