Life on Mars up for TV awards

The Broadcasting Press Guild has announced this year's nominees in its annual TV and radio awards, and Life on Mars is flying high with a total of four nominations.

Its stars, John Simm and Philip Glenister, have both picked up nominations in the Best Actor category, while Matthew Graham, Tony Jordan and Ashley Pharoah have collectively earned a nod in the Writer's Award category. The series itself is also nominated for Best Drama and is up against two other BBC productions, Jane Eyre and The Line of Beauty.

Life on Mars is also the only genre production represented in the awards. Last year, Doctor Who picked up five nominations but came away empty-handed. This year's awards ceremony will be held on 23 March.
