Lex Luthor hints at A.R.G.U.S. involvement in Batman v Superman

Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman may be the only ones who were recently granted character posters, but that doesn't mean Lex Luthor hasn't been a big part of the marketing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Jesse Eisenberg's character has been the focus of a viral campaign which has already seen him 'profiled' by Fortune magazine, and now, with just over three months to go until the film's release, things have been taken a step further, as 'Luthor' was 'interviewed' by Wired.

He still had lots to say about Gotham's Dark Knight though, and it's here where the interview gets interesting: "Any objective analyst will tell you that his brand of justice, vigilantism, is painfully outmoded, designed to be effective in an age when the law carried billy clubs because crime carried knives. You want to clean up the streets? Dress up like the boogeyman, switch on a fog machine and lower your voice." Wait a minute... did Luthor just insult Batman's voice?

And Eisen... sorry, Luthor wasn't done: "Suffice it to say the dangers we’ve been talking about are very real. And they’re not just limited to a couple of alien brawlers able to level tall buildings in a single bout. I’m ready to sit down with whatever task force the government has assembled - in the interest of sharing intelligence and building solutions together. If she… they… Argus… the government, whatever you want to call it, has a real interest in fighting for the future, they ought to work with those of us who are already on the front lines."

The major talking point here is of course the mention of A.R.G.U.S; in the comics it's an organisation, which at one point included Green Arrow, and is tasked with handling major threats, headed up by Amanda Waller. Waller is already scheduled to appear in next year's Suicide Squad where she'll be portrayed by Viola Davis, so it wouldn't be out of the question to have her make a cameo in Batman v Superman or vice versa with Eisenberg in Suicide Squad. Either way, there's a good chance this is more than just a name drop...

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25 2016.
