Leonardo DiCaprio wrestles a bear in The Revenant trailer

If you've always wanted to see Leonardo DiCaprio tackle one of mother nature's most fearful predators - and who hasn't? - you'll want to see the full-length trailer for The Revenant.

Directed by Birdman's Alejandro González Iñárritu, the movie takes its inspiration from Michael Punke's tome about a 19th-century fur trapper-turned-explorer, Hugh Glass, played here by DiCaprio. Out on a typical excursion with his fellow hunters, Glass is left for dead when he encounters a particularly grizzly bear, and vows to track down the man who betrayed his trust: John Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy. All in all, it's a harrowing turn of events that just screams "movie adaptation."

Much like the first teaser trailer, this longer preview showcases stunning cinematography that makes it hard to look away, even in the bleakest of circumstances.

Co-starring Lukas Haas, Will Poulter and Domhnall Gleeson, The Revenant opens in selected US theaters on December 25, followed by a nationwide release in early January. A UK release is slated for January 15, 2016.
