Left 4 Dead 360-exclusive

The first Xbox 360 details on Valve and Turtle Rock's zombie shooter Left 4 Dead have emerged in the pages of the US Official Xbox Magazine.

Apparently, this is the first time the Xbox 360 version has been shown to the press, which is being developed between Valve, PC dev Turtle Rock and newcomer Certain Affinity - who was responsible for the Halo 2 Blastacular map pack.

According to OXM USthe console version still has a ways to go before it matches the state of the PC build, as only that version was playable because the 360 edition is "too overbalanced" at present.

The Xbox 360 version is set to feature four-player co-op and eight-player, four-on-four Versus matches via Xbox Live or System Link. But as for a splitscreen mode, Valve's Doug Lombardi says, "that's the most relevant question that we can't answer for you today."

Unfortunately for PS3 owners, it looks like the multiplayer shooter's sticking to Microsoft platforms for the time being. "The PC and 360 versions of Left 4 Dead will ship simultaneously, but there will be no PS3 edition," says OXM US.
