Kojima's considering films and still wants to work with Guillermo del Toro

We've already got some idea of Kojima's first independent PS4 game from some job listings and other info. But now we also have some words from the man himself, after speaking to IGN.

Kojima states that his first project will be a complete game, so no little mini-projects or episodic stuff. He also alludes to some MG... S something or other he used to work on, saying "we’ve been working on a franchise that is beloved and has recognisable characters. One of my big goals is, visually, with whatever characters we create, to go beyond that, to be more recognisable, more beloved". He also talks about wanting to create a game that "people expect, but at the same time will have something new that people haven’t seen before."

One of the more interesting hints he drops is that he might not just confine himself to games in the future: "the focus is on digital content, so we could consider movies, animations, anything." However he acknowledges that "people expect games from me," hence the initial focus. But it definitely sounds like he's considering other mediums, saying, "once we have an established IP in games, something solid that satisfies people, then we can consider movies and videos." He's also still very keen on working with former PT/Silent Hills partner Guillermo del Toro, and considering del Toro swore off games recently then that could easily tie in with Kojima's cinematic aspirations.
