Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer features fun new faces and one surprising old one

It seems like we’ve lived ten lifetimes since Kingsman: The Secret Service was first in theaters back in early 2015, and now the first full trailer for its sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has finally arrived.

Things look rough for Eggsy this time around - the young spy’s headquarters is blown to bits with a missile. But with new friends like Channing Tatum’s cowboy hat-wearing member of the Statesmen (the American version of the Kingsman), perhaps he’ll be OK.

Oh, and I wasn’t messing around with that headline, either: we do see one surprising old face at the end of this trailer: Colin Firth is back as Eggsy’s former mentor, Harry Hart. It’s not surprising that Firth is back - we’ve known that since the earliest days of the sequel’s existence - but rather the way his face looks is actually surprising to me. Dude’s rocking an eye patch, which seems to imply that he survived being shot in the face at point blank range and his eye was the only casualty. That’s some serious luck, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing how the movie explains its way out of that one... in addition to all of the mayhem and cool gadgetry that’s promised in the rest of this trailer, of course.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, Julianne Moore, Pedro Pascal, Jeff Bridges, and Colin Firth, Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theaters on September 22, 2017.
