Clearly enthused about Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of his comic book series, writer Mark Millar is slightly confident about the prospects for a flow-up.
The film hasn't even hit cinemas yet, and Millar is talking up the chances for another. "We don't want to sound too cocky, but we know this is good," Millar tells MTV. "It didn't cost that much money to make. There will definitely be another one."
Given the film's storming success at Comic-Con and its recent pickup by US studio Lionsgate, its luck has definitely turned, considering every major movie company in America turned Vaughn's original pitch down and forced him to scape the money to make it as an independent.
But now Millar's eye is on the future, with a follow-up plot baked into the story of the first comic run and its cinematic equivalent.
"There's a basic plot," Millar says. "The series ends on a teaser for the next one, and the movie ends on that teaser, too."
Crossed fingers for a decent return then. And give that Disney recent bought Marvel (which owns the rights to all Kick-Ass comic releases), might the Mouse House end up distributing any possible second film? Stranger things have happened…
