Judge Dredd will be back

Confirming rumours that have been drifting for a while, a brand new version of Judge Dredd is being planned by the 2000AD team.

Rights owners Rebellion have announced that it will work with DNA Films (the folks behind Sunshine and 28 Days Later) to bring a new film version of Mega City One’s best-known law keeper to our screens.

If the name Judge Dredd brings nightmarish visions of the dodgy 1995 Sylvester Stallone vehicle, and the phrase “I am the law” chills your bones, take heart.

While it’s too early to speculate on what the final film will be like, the full participation of the Rebellion crew gives us hope.

2000AD

Dredd began life in the second issue of 2000AD, riding around Mega City One as judge, jury an executioner as one of the ruling law keepers in a dystopian future.

“We can’t give away too many details at this point, but we’re looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen,” says Rebellion’s Jason Kingsley. Well, it can’t be much worse… And there's no Sly this time. We hope.

Question: Should Jason Statham take over as Dredd? And if not him, then who?
