James Marsden talks new Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse

With X-Men: Apocalypse set to focus on the younger versions of our favourite mutants, James Marsden has revealed he approves of the actor who'll play a teen version of Cyclops.

Last week, Bryan Singer revealed that Tye Sheridan (Mud) had been cast as the spec-wearing mutant, and it seems like Marsden couldn't be happier.

“I think he’s a wonderfully talented actor who blew me away in Mud,” the actor tells HitFix of Sheridan. “I’ve never seen a kid that young be that present and that powerful. So, I think he’s a perfect fit and I congratulate him.”

Marsden played Cyclops aka Scott Summers in the first three X-Men movies, and briefly reprised the role in last year's X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

X-Men: Apocalpse will follow on from the latter, with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender returning as Prof X and Magneto, plus Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

Other new additions to the cast include Sophie Turner (Game Of Thrones) as Jean Grey and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be directed by Bryan Singer and opens in the UK on 27 May 2016.
