Angry Birds animated series entering production

In news that should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, app developer Rovio has announced that it will be producing an animated series based on its ridiculously successfull Angry Birds game franchise.

The move to the small screen is part of Rovio's overall marketing strategy which kicked into full gear last year and has already given birth to Angry Bird board games, stuffed animals and iPhone accessories. According Rovio's CEO, Mikael Hed, the studio had pegged Angry Birds for a movie or show early on, but only recently has it been able to evaluate the market and confidently move forward with the project.

"We have been looking at that for quite a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now -- to work on broadcast content for 'Angry Birds,' " said Hed in a chat withC21media.net.

Rovio has yet to confirm who will be joining them in their venture,or if Angry Birds will make their Hollywood debut on TV, the internet or as downloadable episodeson portable devices. As for the show's voice actors, I've alwaysenvisionedSteve Buscemias the Yellow Bird, Tobey Maguire for the Red Bird, andJohn Ratzenbergerfor the pigs.Andreally,it's not likeRovio can't afford them.
