Introversion talks "aggressive" Multiwinia

Jan 2, 2008

Introversion's multiplayer-focused strategy game Multiwinia will be far more action-packed than its cult classic cousin, Darwinia, by the sound of it.

"...we've always considered this game to share only the setting with Darwinia - not the game or mechanics. Multiwinia is a much faster, more aggressive and more visceral experience than Darwinia ever was," Introversion's Chris Delay tells the UK's PC Zone magazine.

Multiwinia wasfirst unveiledin February 2007. At the time, the developer said it would combine "elements of the award-winning Darwinia, with the addition of multiplayer support which will enable both co-operative and competitive battles between massive Darwinian armies."

However, it sounds as though Introversion's original vision for Multiwinia has gone under the knife: Delay explains that the UK studio hasn't been afraid to "rework or even throw things away that didn't work" during the development process.

Multiwinia - a "kick-arse wargame" according to Delay - is set in the digital mainframe world of Darwinia where tribes of Darwinians are fighting for control of their world.

Introversion's always managed to tickle our gaming fancy with its strategy games, and we've got high hopes for this latest project. It's expected to release this year.

PC Zone's full interview with Chris Delay appears in issue #190, which hits UK newsstands tomorrow.
