The tremendoussuccess of the Humble Indie Bundle #2has motivated a handful of philanthropic iPhone developers to put up six of their most popular games for $0.99 cents each in a Child's Play fundraiser dubbed the 'Indie iPhone Holiday Sale.'
The promotion features six bestselling games including Osmos (Hemishere Games), Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor (Tiger Style), Eliss (Thirion), Drop7 (Area/Code), Solipskier (Mikengreg), and Canabalt (Secret Software).
Though it may share the same style and spirit of the Humble Indie Bundle, the Indie iPhone Holiday Sale is a fundamentally different fundraiser. Instead of putting up a pay-what-you-want package deal, it offers its selection of iOS bestsellers for the reduced price of $0.99 each. A third of the total donations goes to its sole benefactor, the Child's Play charity, but downloading the entire selection of games will cost $6 total and require six individual app store transactions. Still, considering that the games are being sold at a fraction of their true retail value, and that a portion of the money still goes towards a great charity, this shouldn't dissuade anyone from holding back.
It's unclear how long the promotion will last, but final sales will be tallied in the new year. If you've been looking for an excuse to see what this whole iGadget gaming craze is all about, this might be the best time to do so while earning good karma in the process.
