How are you preparing for next-gen?

Oh no! The next generation (of consoles, not Star Trek) is right around the corner, and you haven't even gotten ready for it yet! There is still so much to do! You've got to clear some space on your desk/entertainment stand, figure out what launch games you're going to get, and how to break it to your best friend that you are getting the opposite console they are. Oh wait, now you're getting cold feet about your console choice!

How are you preparing for next-gen?

I said "screw it" and threw away all of my current-gen game boxes. The games themselves are now in a binder that sits next to my entertainment center, leaving the huge bookshelf I had previously filled with games a clean slate for the next generation. Sure, it hurt to toss all the boxes, but… whatever. Let's go, next-gen!

i'm preparing by taking the money i would have spent on the next console and one game and, instead, gradually increasing my 360 game library. why? because neither new console is worth the price at this time and both companies need to prove themselves to me for 1 full year before i'll even consider their next products.

I'm avoiding it like the plague and upgrading my PC like not much has changed. Next gen so far has been pretty crap at justifying itself so far I don't expect much to change for another one to two years.

Spent just under $700 on some new components so I could max BF4 and The Witcher 3 when it comes out. I'm currently getting anywhere from between 70-100fps on Ultra in BF4 while recording my gameplay. It's pretty ridiculous.

Completely avoiding it. If I go back to the PSXboxCube era through the systems of today, I have probably 20+ games that I have yet to finish. I won't even get into PC games, where I've got probably quintuple that number from impulse buys on Steam sales. As much as I'd love to buy a Wii U, or a PS4 solely to spite TinyFlaccid, there is no way I can justify it with that huge of a backlog.

Working full time and slowly acquiring the final pieces for my new desktop PC which'll steamroll any requirements thrown at it. More than a little upset I missed the Battlefield 4 launch, but oh well. As for the actual consoles, I'm gonna hold out until Metal Gear Solid V releases, and then I'll pick up the PS4.

Well I'm preparing by paying off my PS4 while simultaneously trying to get through. I have a couple PS3 games I'm hoping to finish before AC4. Just finished Beyond Two Souls with GTAV and Arkham Origins to go.

I am doing nothing but enjoying my current gen. systems. I'll wait for the inevitable system launch bugs to get ironed out before I even consider purchasing a next-gen system. There are still plenty of games I need to get for my current consoles anyway.

I'm pretending it doesn't exist while crying into my empty wallet...

Pre-ordered both consoles during E3. Other than that, not doing anything to prepare.

I'm going to do nothing and just buy stuff off Steam.

Keep playing games on my PC.

Other than being poor, I see no reason to rush out and buy a next gen console/games right now.

I've been fervently eliminating my steam backlog of games, so I can close out all of the stuff I wanted to play this generation. I know it might not be the best decision to be a day-one-PS4-purchaser, but this only happens once every 10 years or so. I'm definitely willing to put my logic aside if it means I get in on that initial, "Next generation rush!". And I think the new Killzone looks pretty fun, and I'll have BF4 to keep me occupied until we start seeing the good next gen games hitting in 2014. Destiny is my most anticipated next-gen game, hands down. I loved the event system in guild wars 2, so I'm really excited to play a class-based first person shooter with cooperative public events. That should be a blast.

Think I'll wait a couple months to see how they are, then wait until the 'Slim' or 'Elite' versions to come out once they iron out the issues. I'm still undecided as to which console to get, Xbone has slightly stronger game line up and the progress from past games will passover to the next ones cus I'm currently on 360, but it still pisses me off that Xbone has mandatory Kinect WHICH I WILL NEVER USE. EVER. PS4 on the other hand has cheeper online subscription fees, is like £80 cheaper with slightly better hardware.... Although I hear the service and support for the PS4 is poor in Europe.... Hmmm :\
  • Relzen - November 2, 2013 8:27 p.m.

Well considering Europe has always been one of the strongest markets for Sony I don't think you need to worry about them having shoddy service.
  • chavbuster1 - November 3, 2013 7:58 a.m.

    Hmmm PS4 it is!

Here in Brazil, robbing a bank.
  • poorassbum - November 1, 2013 11:54 a.m.

If I weren't a poor ass bum I would happily get the Next-Gen consoles, but I'm so poor that don't even have the current generation. Guess I'll have to sit in the corner and play some PC games.
  • zelta38 - November 3, 2013 2:39 a.m.

Why in the corner? PCs are way better overall, consoles are nice too, but if you have a PC you already have access to a catalog spanning 20+ years with better graphics, just hook it up to your PC, get a gamepad and enjoy!
