Highlight of the Week: Now THAT is an introduction

They say - whoever 'they' are - that you only get one chance at making a first impression. If you mess up the initial introduction you'll be forever remembered as a tool. But if you do something incredible then you'll go down in legend. After this introduction, this daredevil scientist from the original Half-Life will remain a hero to us.

GREETINGS!

(Music by Disco King)

July 15, 2011

HOTW: Very awkward water cooler moment
Just a couple of Joes shooting the breeze

HOTW: Inappropriate step-aerobics
Some people have terrible bed-side manner

HOTW: Toughest puzzle ever - solved!
How? How did he do that?

Remember, this is an example of a great first impression. So do this at your next job interview.

Hardcore Parkour!!!! I used to love putting the cheat in right at the start for all weapons and then massacring all the scientist with a crow bar :0). Is that wrong?

Check out Black Mesa Source! It's not out yet, but it looks amazing.

The problem is that he tends to run off and get killed by a zombie immediately afterwards, so I have to go save him. There's already the PS2 version of HL, the HD texture pack, Half-Life Source, I don't think there's going to be any new versions of Half-Life. And that Black Mesa mod is basically parallel to HL3 right now, so I don't think too many people are counting on that right now.

Actually wouldn't making a High Definition version of all of the Half Life games (and expansions) be the perfect way to keep us tied over until Episode Three eventually comes out? Come on Valve, COD has been called the best shooter for far too ling. It is time to take back what is rightfully yours. After all, WWGFD? (What would Gordon Freeman do?)

Christ! Turn down the volume on the GR in/outtro.

People forget that when the Blue Shift expansion came out it installed higher-detail models of all the characters and weapons. I think this applied to the original Half-Life as well, don't hold me to that.

HOLY CRAP. I REMEMBER THIS. I was like "Awww yeah best scientist ever!" Sad part is, the wall behind him breaks, and zombies kill him.... *sniff*

RicePudding, they are making a Half Life remake using the Source engine, it's called Black Mesa. It has been in the works forever, but it looks good. It will only be released on PC though.
  • Baron164 - July 15, 2011 10:45 a.m.

That's awesome, I didn't remember seeing that when I played the game, but it has been a long time

Haha.. I never noticed how nonchalant that old scientist can be. Yeah. A real badass and still have time to be polite to a gun wielding guy with a bright orange hazmat suit. That's what the world really need today : good manners.
