Rating:
The One Where: Molly tells Matt that his father is the Nightmare Man plaguing her dreams. Sylar gets a lift to New York, while in New Orleans we meet Monica, our latest hero.
Verdict: Probably the strongest episode of the season so far, and one that’s owned by Dana Davis as frustrated fast food operative Monica Dawson. Frankly, she’s adorable, and a great addition to the ensemble. Don’t kill her, Kring! Claire and West’s romance continues to be well played – the shot of them suspended in the sky against the Hollywood sign is a lovely slice of comic book imagery. And as for Matt’s father being the demonically telepathic Nightmare Man – seems so obvious in hindsight, doesn’t it?
Highlight: It has to be Monica’s gymnastically-inclined wrestling move on the burger bar bandit. Applause.
Trivia: The episode title is taken from a line in Tennessee Williams’ 1947 play A Streetcar Named Desire, set in New Orleans’ French quarter.
Did You Spot? Sylar’s watch claims that it’s 11.53 – in other words, Seven Minutes to Midnight, the title of a classic season one episode.
LMAO: Sylar’s profoundly Jimmy Stewartish “Oh golly” as he pretends to be shocked by the revelation that Maya and Alejandra are runaway killers.
WTF? Again with that deformed reflection of Nathan! What’s going on? Weird as hell.
Best Line:
Monica: "Girl, how’m I gonna get pregnant wearing this outfit two shifts a day?"
