Here's how Pokemon Go lets you choose how to evolve your Eevee - Now updated with Espeon and Umbreon

Update: Feb 17: Generation 2 brings in Espeon and Umbreon. See below for the names.

So Pokemon Go is hiding more than a few secrets. The ridiculously cute Eevee has not one but five evolutions available but how can you choose between Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Espeon or Umbreon when you hit that evolve button? It turns out you'll need to use your knowledge of the original TV show.

The Eevee Brothers from the anime each had their own Eevee evolution. Rainer, Pyro and Sparky each owned a Vaporeon, a Flareon and a Jolteon so rename your Eevee after the respective brother by using the edit tool, and when you hit evolve you'll get your perfect eeevolution. Now, after the generation 2 update, you can name your Eevee after the Kimono Sisters, Sakura and Tamao. Sakura has an Espeon and Tamao an Umbreon.

 We've tested these and they all worked perfectly,  so here are the steps to take. - remember to quit out of the app and restart just to make sure that the name registers on the servers. Here's the names as a reminder.

Rainer  = Vaporeon
Sparky = Jolteon
Pyro = Flareon
Sakura = Espeon
Tamao = Umbreon

So bring up the Eevee you want to evolve. Here's mine. D'awww.

Edit the name respectively. I wanted a Vaporeon so changed the name to Rainer. Remember to hit ok and then completely restart the app to make sure the name registers on the servers.

Reopen the app and go back into your Pokemon menu. If you've got enough Eevee candy, you should be able to hit evolve. See my new high level Vaporeon below. It's taken quite the hop in CP too. Bring me those gyms....

If you're just starting out, here's the Pokemon Go tips I wish I'd known when I started playing
