The Walking Dead season 7 will be going back to "the thrill of the fight" according to Andrew Lincoln

Let’s face it, the first half of The Walking Dead season 7 shambled along slower than the walkers, roamers, bobbers – or whatever nifty new name the showrunners have for ‘zombie.’ But the second half of the season promises to see Rick turn into “a man in action again,” according to Andrew Lincoln. *rubs hands with glee*

Speaking to EW, Lincoln – better known as Rick Grimes to you and me – opens up about what fans should expect when the rest of season 7 hits screens on February 12, “There’s sort of a freedom in [Rick], a feeling that comes from losing everything and also the thrill of the fight.” Don’t go expecting Rick and the gang to bust out Eye of the Tiger anytime soon, but do expect some serious ass-kicking.

The Walking Dead has felt fractured for some time now, not least because the main cast of characters are spread out across the zombie wasteland. But all of that looks like it will change very soon as we return to the more classic style of The Walking Dead that fans know and love. Lincoln says “It certainly feels very much like a show that I knew and recognised in the back eight,” before adding, “All I’m saying is that the band is back together.”

It’s about damn time.

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on February 12
