Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts will be 'at least' a trilogy

On top of announcing its DC extravaganza , Warner has also unveiled its plans for Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them , which will arrive as 'at least' a trilogy of films…

The three films will be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020, with Potter alumnus David Yates officially confirmed to direct the first installment in the new series.

J.K. Rowling is currently writing the script for the first film, which will be set in New York and will focus on intrepid wizard Newt Scamander. “Jo [ Rowling ] has a vision for this extension of the franchise, and for the first time, she is writing the script for what she believes is at least a trilogy,” says Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara.

The story will be set long before Harry’s time, although there may be a few familiar characters that crop up along the way, as Newt sets about adventuring his way through the weird and wonderful world of Magizoology.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will open on 18 November 2016, giving you plenty of time to make sure you know your Crumple-Horned Snorkack from your Acromantula…
