Harley Quinn, the Joker’s mischievous gal pal, is poised to make her live-action debut in next year’s Suicide Squad. Details on her appearance in David Ayer’s movie have now surfaced thanks to another scoop from chief tipsters Latino Review.
For those unfamiliar with her backstory, Harley Quinn first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series and became an instant hit. Shortly afterwards she was a permanent fixture in the DC Comics universe. But which aesthetic will serve as inspiration for Ayer; the series or the panels?
Both of them, apparently. Quinn, who will be played by Focus and Wolf Of Wall Street star Margot Robbie, is set for several different looks throughout the movie.
The ‘traditional’ appearance first introduced in the animated series will be of course referenced followed by a stint where Harley is kitted out in prison garb. One later sequence will find Robbie dolled-up in a dress as she busts into a club.
That’s not even the best part; the hyenas she and the Joker keep as pets are also down to make a cameo. They’re probably not the sort you’d want to hear laughing though...
Co-starring Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis, Suicide Squad opens on August 5, 2016.
