Halo: Reach Achievement Guide

Protocol Dictates Action

Gamerpoints: 10
Completed the 3rd mission on Normal or harder.

Simply complete the 3rd mission on any difficulty higher than easy.

Score Attack

Gamerpoints: 10
Score 15,000 points in Score Attack Firefight Matchmaking.

For this cheevo, you will need to rack up 15K points in 12 minutes. In the match making menu choose Score Attack and then you will be given a few options which includes Sniper Attack. If you are going at it yourself, choose Sniper Attack so that you have unlimited ammo.  You can now pick up any weapon you want and have unlimited ammo.  It’s pretty tough to do by your lonesome, so it is best to team up with 3 others to tackle.  The points will come in slow at first, but once the stronger waves start coming in, the points will start to rack up.

Send me Out…With a Bang

Gamerpoints: 10
Completed the 10th mission on Normal or harder.

Simply complete the 10th mission on any difficulty higher than easy.

Gamerpoints: 10
Win a game of Invasion in the 1st phase.

In each game of Invasion there are attackers and defenders and there are three phases.  For the achievement you need to stop the attacking team from taking over the capture point before time runs out.  As soon as the game starts, head to the spot and find a cozy little spot to protect it from.  Keep everyone from taking it and when the clock counts down, the achievement is yours.

Swap Meet

Gamerpoints: 10
Traded weapons with an AI ally in Campaign.

When you are at the Oni: Sword Base, you will be accompanied by a load of generic UNSC soldiers.  Simply walk up to one with a weapon in hand – provided that weapon has ammo in it – and hit X to swap your weapons and take 10 GP.

Tanks Beat Everything

Gamerpoints: 25
Finished the 9th mission on Legendary with the Scorpion intact.

Once you start the 9th mission, you will need to clear out a few turrets and enemies and then hop in the tank. Thankfully you only need to get to the Sword Base gate with the tank intact.  That doesn’t mean you need to kill everything with it.  Once you reach the first area with the tank, you can clear it out and hop in the Revenant there.  Use that to clear the next area and the next as well.  Once the next couple of areas are clear, head back and grab the tank and mop any enemies that you may have missed.  Just a heads up, you can also destroy the AA guns with the tank instead of running inside to destroy the core. Once you reach the Sword Base gate, the cheevo will pop.

That’s a Knife

Gamerpoints: 10
Performed an Assassination on an enemy.

At the beginning of the 4th mission, Jun and yourself will be creeping along a ledge in the dark.  Soon enough you will come to an Elite that is just hanging out.  Perform the assassination as you are instructed and feel free to dance on his corpse in celebration of your newly acquired 10 points.

The Soldier We Needed You To Be

Gamerpoints: 25
Completed the Campaign on Normal difficulty.

If you went the route of Heroic or Legendary difficulty, then you will have gotten this achievement already.  If not, then playing through of the nancy difficulty- sorry, normal difficulty- will net you this.

The Start of Something

Gamerpoints: 15
Reached the rank of Corporal in the UNSC.

The rank of Corporal is accomplished when you hit 10k credits.  Since you start with 5K, it’s pretty easy to achieve after one play through of the single player campaign.

This is Not Your Grave

Gamerpoints: 10
Completed the 9th mission on Normal or harder.

Simply complete the 9th mission on any difficulty higher than easy.

They’ve Always Been Faster

Gamerpoints: 25
Cleared the 2nd mission without setting foot in a drivable vehicle.

After the second large wave of enemies, you will cross a stream and hop down a cliff.  Just after the drop, there is a truck to the right side of the canyon.  Ignore it, as well as the truck at the next base and hoof it through the rest of the mission. This part can be reached easily by loading Rally Point Alpha.

The Objective to "If They Came To Hear Me Beg" is to hit the ground and immediatly assassinate the elite on Normal Or Harder on The POA
  • maximas - February 8, 2011 9:15 a.m.

does anyone know how to get a "Bulltrue medal"?
  • skytag - December 30, 2010 10:41 p.m.

Just so people know, the If You Came To Hear Me Beg achievement isn't so much difficult as it is tricky. Not all assassinations will unlock the achievement. You have to be the right distance behind the Elite and press your melee button at the exact right moment. The distance is critical because if you're too far back your melee triggers a lunge, and the lunge invalidates the fatality of the fall, not the assassination, so no achievement. Timing is critical because you're moving so fast. If you're getting assassinations but they aren't unlocking the achievement, try going just a tad farther out to get a little closer to him, and try pressing the melee button just a bit earlier. You can use either weapon, and it doesn't matter where he's standing. The reason some people find it easy and others nearly impossible is different people do it slightly differently, so it works for some and not others. It's not because of skill. You could jump off that cliff for an hour, assassinating the Elite every time and still not unlock the achievement if you aren't doing it exactly the way the game wants you to do it.

  • NightlordKrusnik - September 28, 2010 2:44 a.m.

And one more thing, between levels 6 and 7 i fall from freaking HIGH ORBIT and manage to survive with about half health, and yet falling about 100 feet or so causes me to off myself in spectacularly horrible fashion when i miss the damn elite
  • NightlordKrusnik - September 28, 2010 2:12 a.m.

"Turn off Sprint".... Now i know why it took me 127 tries before i got that damn 'If They Came To Hear Me Beg' f****r
  • ViolentLee - September 27, 2010 7:50 p.m.

The trick to Your Heresy Will Stay Your Feet is to get to wear he's waiting at the bottom of the stairs and hit him with the n00b combo (charged plasma pistol to knock out his shield, then another weapon to take him out while he's defenseless). That way, he can't dodge your shots, and you're not close enough to get hit by his sword.
  • marty90 - September 27, 2010 5:14 p.m.

@Korvak you my friend are a genius did it alone within 20 mins, easiest thing in the world. much appreciated
  • Korvak - September 27, 2010 3:36 p.m.

For the 1 Mill Firefight achievement, it only took me and 2 friends 13 min to get. I have the file share saved to my gamertag (which is Korvak)if anyone is interested.

stupid cliff jumping pain in the ass.
  • TeslaVonMagnus - September 25, 2010 8:03 p.m.

The "If They Came to Hear Me Beg" achievement was made to sound MUCH easier than it really is. I've been trying for and hour and a half and I've still not gotten it. I've landed on the Elite's head and survived, I've simply melee killed it and survived, I've melee killed it and died also, and I've missed more times than I can count. Basically everything but an assassination. :/
  • Thuperman - September 25, 2010 5:52 p.m.

GR should do more achievement guides, now i only need two more for reach and it will be a pretty long timre for me to get to Lt. colonel
  • Axcleblade - September 25, 2010 5:23 p.m.

SPAAAAAAAAAAAM EVERYWHERE! Anyway, I actually didn't have too much trouble with "If They Came to Hear me Beg." When I got to that point on my first playthrough, I saw that Elite and knew he was the target for that acheivement. I missed my first jump, but got him on my second.
  • Zeb364 - September 25, 2010 8:57 a.m.

I agree that the "If They Came To Hear Me Beg" achievement can be a massive bitch. I tried for awhile and just said screw it, I'll get it later.
  • dontshootthereviewer - September 25, 2010 5:14 a.m.

For getting your rank up for the achievements you can mess around on forge and get a decent amount of points.
  • batman5273 - September 25, 2010 3:45 a.m.

I also have a couple corrections For "keep it clean" you do have to kill the 7 ostriches, but if you die, the counter resets. for "score attack" you do not have to do it in score attack by yourself. I personally helped Brett Elston get this one in Firefight matchmaking. You want to get a team of 4 and select "rocket fight" on "Corvette." The score is accumulative and you do not run out of lives, but you do get a penalty for dying. We easily got 18k with our team.
