Gran Turismo 5 is finally, actually, really finished

Rememberwhen Sony first announced Gran Turismo 5 back in 2005? Remember when the company said it would be coming out in 2009? Or how about just earlier this year when Sony madea bunch offanfare over having a specific November 2 release date? As skeptical as we've become about Gran Turismo 5 announcements, the game's producer now says that it's actually, really100% finished.

"The discs are being stamped as we speak," said Gran Turismolead Kazunori Yamauchi in an interview with Jalopnik. This comes after the developers missed the highly publicized November 2 launch date.

Recently, online retailers listed the game's release date as being sometime in 2011, butthat was because they hadn'treceived updated information from the publisher. Sony quickly came forward to say thatit was still expecting a holiday release, but no onehas given us an actual new date at this time.

If we believe Yamauchi, though, then the game should actually be on its way to stores very soon.

Gran Turismo 5 is of course aiming to be the most sophisticated driving simulator ever. Nearly a decade of development has gone into the game and an unbelievable budget of $60 million has been allocated to its production. Sounds like a pretty impressive game... if it actually ever comes out.
