Gore Verbinski has had enough of sailing the high seas with Pirates Of The Caribbean.
He’s already told Jerry Bruckheimer that he doesn’t want to hop back into the director’s chair for the fourth franchise outing, which has been in development at Disney.
"I had a fantastic time bringing Pirates to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team," Verbinski tells Variety. "I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future."
So what will he do instead? Well, it’s not like he’s desperate for work – he’s been busy developing an adaptation of console game Bioshock (above) for Universal, which boasts a script from John Logan and is likely to be his next directing jobs.
Meanwhile, he’s been bringing animated adventure Rango – with a lead voice by one J Depp – to life over at Paramount, which will arrive in 2011 and has several other projects bubbling away, including a Cluedo adaptation.
