As voting for the Golden Joystick Awards 2012 enters its final weeks, we take a look at each of the individual categories. Today is the turn of Best Strategy category.
Best Strategy shortlist:
Who are we voting for?
Matt Cundy (UK Editor): Not my specialist subject by any stretch of the imagination. But I do like Samurai. I like how they have swords and armour. Pretty neat. So I’m voting for Total War: Shogun 2 – Fall of the Samurai.
David Houghton (UK Associate Editor): Afraid it looks like I've been com, pletely neglecting strategy games this year. Is it too early to start pre-emptively talking about XCOM for next year? It is? Crap. In that case I'll be opting for Fall of the Samurai too. I've heard good things about it, and there is nothing in the world more badass than a samurai. Apart from ninjas. But ninjas who get into large-scale open battles are ninjas who are doing it wrong, so are not really applicable to war games.
Justin Towell (UK Content Editor): Hmm… looking at this list, it would appear Strategy hasn’t been my thing over the past 12 months, so I haven’t really got a preference for any of them. I did download Tropico 4 via OnLive, but couldn’t get my Mac mouse to right-click on the first level, so gave up. So… possibly a minus vote for that one. I’ll go with Total War as the series is ace.
Those are the strategy games getting our votes, but what about you – who are you voting for? Tell us in the comments.
Head to Golden Joystick Awards to vote. Voting closes 22 October. The Golden Joystick Awards 2012 take place 26 October.
