Golden Globe nominations announced

As the awards season starts to shift into high gear, the latest batch of nominations have been announced. This time, it’s the turn of the Golden Globes, as handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

There are a few surprises here: given its mixed reception and low box office, Bobby was a long shot to make the list of Best Drama noms; while who would have expected Borat to turn up on a list back when it was being viewed as a possible audience misfire?

Still, there are also a lot of nominations we could have guessed: Babel leading the pack, with Dreamgirls not far behind. Leonardo DiCaprio running against himself for The Departed and Blood Diamond, Little Children cropping up as a Best Drama nomination with Kate Winslet also snagging a nod.

The awards themselves will be handed out on 15 January in LA. We’ve got the full film list here, but if you also want to check out the TV nominations, click here .
