God of War III guide – Eyes, Feathers, Horns and Godly Possessions

Minotaur Horn 2

Once you’ve passed the Judges’ challenge – more or less – you’ll be ushered through a Hyperion Gate that’ll teleport you to a walkway that snakes around behind their giant stone heads. Eventually, you’ll see the head of the Judge with curved horns, next to a strange, yellowish haze.

Ignore the haze for now (you’ll know what to do with it when the time comes) and make a hard right, ducking behind the wall on the far side of the catwalk. The camera will then wheel sharply around, revealing another Hyperion Gate.

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in the locked chamber the Judges wouldn’t let you into, which coincidentally also houses a chest that contains the second Minotaur Horn.

Phoenix Feather 2

Further on, you’ll find a vertical chamber with a huge, open furnace that you can stoke (with the help of a few bombs) to glide up far enough to lower a big, grill-like platform.

Before you soar up and leave the room for good, though, you should check out what’s behind that big door with all the hands on it.

Hey, look at that! It’s a bunch of hands! Hands you need to kill.

Two good things will come of this: First, you’ll unlock the “Mr. Hand” Trophy for finding the “secret” room. Second, there’s a chest at the back of the room that holds your next Phoenix Feather.

Gorgon Eye 4

Hephaestus is pretty friendly for an Olympian, don’t you think? Too bad he’s holding out on you.

Run to his left, past his giant water basin and up the stairs toward that suspiciously huge, ornate locked gate.

Once you’re up there, the next Gorgon Eye is just to your left.

Phoenix Feather 3

After you've climbed to the third floor in Hades' Palace, you'll be confronted with an imposing statue of Hades; turn the crank in the middle of the floor, and Persephone's glass coffin will be hoisted into view, setting up a puzzle.

For now, though, run around the walkway to the left of the statue until you reach an enclosure with a ladder to your right.

Climb up and you'll see two Red Orb chests, at which point you should turn and head into the semi-hidden alcove at right.

There, inside the Hades statue's head, is the third Phoenix Feather - and your first magic boost.

Hades’ Helm

Once you’ve dealt with Hades, you may think you took everything he had to offer when you stole his monstrous hooks. Not so – jump into the now-safe water, and you’ll find another treasure that used to belong to him.

Above: Start here and jump over to the right

Above: It’s down toward the bottom. See it?

Swim a little to the right when you’re above the water, and then dive down to the bottom. The helmet that used to cover Hades’ disgusting head is there for the taking.

Like Zeus’ Eagle, the Helm can confer special, Trophy-killing powers on you once you’ve finished the game, this time by maxing out your health, magic and item meters as soon as it’s activated.

Minotaur Horn 3 and Gorgon Eye 5

Olympia’s only major secret is also a twofer: find it, and you get two collectible power-ups. Luckily, it’s not that difficult to find. After you’ve busted through the city’s monster-sensitive gates and made your way to the second gap that you’ll need to ride harpies to cross, you may notice a seemingly inaccessible cliff on the other side of a big chasm.

Above: Look carefully at the upper right. See it?

Once you’ve ridden to the other side of the gap, run around for a few seconds until a harpy respawns. Then, coax it as far to the right as you can before hooking onto it.

Now all that’s left to do is to ride your new friend up and to the right; if you aim it correctly, you should be able to reach the ledge without a problem.

Once you’re there, you can help yourself to your fifth Gorgon Eye and your third Minotaur Horn, which should finally power up your item meter.

Helios’ Shield

This one couldn’t be simpler. Just walk to the right of where you beheaded Helios, and look for the shiny thing on the ground. Pick it up, and the shield is yours.

Turn this thing on when you’ve beaten the game, and it’ll automatically multiply your hits counter by three. Not sure why you’d want that unless you’re going for a Trophy, though, and using the Shield sort of kills those completely.

Minotaur Horn 4

Before you head into the Path of Eos, there's one more secret to find: at the right of the area where you killed Helios, just south of where you found the shield, you'll see an indistinct gold haze.

Flash your gross new head at it, and you'll find a hidden chest containing the fourth Minotaur Horn.

Above: Thanks again to KnewJedi for pointing this out

In the caverns, after you defeat all of those cyclopes and open those 2 chests, one of them is a horn, but the other one, if you haven't yet collected all Gorgon Eyes, will give you one! I missed quite a few eyes, apparently, and this one was my last one, to max out health :) PS: what a pain in the arse to be able to post here! cumbersome registration system, and now captcha :S

there's a 12th gorgon eye in the gardens before the one at the end. After defeating the two spear opponents that look similar to minotaurs in the caged corridor, continue into the gardens and when u see a slave in front of the green chest. Hook around to the right and follow that path to two red chests. Use the head of helios to reveal the chest on the left wall.

A Minatour Horn is missing in this walkthough... It goes directly after Phoenix Feather 11... In Tartarus... After you head down the San Francisco type hill and jump/glide across the part of the mountainside that fell away... Turn right into a blind alcove... There is a Minotaur Horn there.
  • Fastthumbs227 - August 5, 2010 4:10 p.m.

There is also another Gorgon eye right after the fight with the goats in that curved hallway. Take a right at the green box, then another right at the blue box and use helios' head to uncover a box in a little aslcove with two red boxes.

I followed your great guide to complete my missed eyes, horns and feathers. However in Hera's garden I found the last Gorgon's eye...oh well just as Olympian said above :D
  • Olympian - June 6, 2010 2:30 a.m.

I just wanted to point out that the guide is missing a Gorgon Eye. I found one by 2 red orb chests in Hera's Garden right after you kill the Satyrs. Just open the gate after them, and head right into a closed off area and shine Helios' head on it.
  • kurtos - May 6, 2010 10:49 a.m.

well i just saw that someone else has already pointed the horn out after i put my comment. Well it wasn't updated so no harm in putting again eh. Great guide mate , has really helped

Hey, I have an update if you want it. I've been following the guide but i found Minotaur Horn 9 in the Pit of Tartarus. After collecting Feather 11. Go down the path. straight past the green and blue boxes and keep following the path down, until you come to a gap , glide over the gap and in the wall on the right theres a little hidden alcove with the horn in it. Just stick to the wall as soon as you have jumped the gap and you should easily find it. It's not far up the path

hey dude, thanks for the chest locations, you are missing one though. gorgan eye number 12 is actually in the maze, its near 2 red orb chests, and you need helio's head to find it. very easy chest to find.
  • jjayp1771 - April 18, 2010 10 p.m.

  • isaidicanshout - April 18, 2010 5:11 a.m.

great guide! i found a minotaur horn that isn't listed. in Tartarus, when you glide across the gap to Cronos' hand, hang a right around the corner to find a minotaur horn, right before the boss fight.

Where in the heck is the wall in Hades pt 1 you are suppose to climb to leap over the waterfall to reach the golden eye? !!!!!
  • jester2go - April 9, 2010 11:35 p.m.

They missed a Gorgon Eye in the garden. Beat the two guys in the alley (3rd or 4th fight in the garden), lift the gate, theres health in fron of you, turn right, blue orb box in front of you, turn right again, the camera angle changes, follow path around to the left. There are two red ord boxs on your right, use the Head of Helios to reveal the 12th Gorgon Eye
