Ghost In The Live Action Shell

DreamWorks has hired a new writer to adapt a live action big screen version of Masamune Shirow’s classic manga Ghost In The Shell. Laeta Kalogridis has been hired to adapt manga – about a cybernetic agent in a future police force – replacing Jamie Moss, the original writer hired when DreamWorks bought the property last year. Kalogridis wrote and executive produced Martin Scorsese's upcoming thriller Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The manga has already been adapted into a celebrated anime by legendary dircetor Mamoru Oshii in 1995, which spawned a sequel and an animated TV series (which, confusingly, also had a film anime spin-off).
