Gears of War Vault case glows blood red when you die

360 case mod mass-produced for your console-preserving convenience

The Gears of War Vault, Calibur11's first game-specific 360 Slim pre-mod, sure as hell makes no bones about letting the kids know which sci-fi cover-shooter you favor. The mod features a neat Gears of War 3 tie-in: whenever you're downed by an enemy in the upcoming sequel, the huge-ass Crimson Omen on the side will glow bright red – which is pretty frikkin' metal. Calibur11 also promises the mod will improve your console's cooling systems, possibly by plunking a great big controller-rest on the side to prevent you blocking the vents.

You can pre-order from Calibur11 now. The Gears of War Vault be available from Best Buy and online retailers for $89 in September – and you can add another $17 to the price tag for a customized nameplate. Pick one up early and you'll also get the chance to win a life-size replica suit of Calibur11-branded COG armor – which, if nothing else, should solve your annual Halloween problem for, oh, at least three generations.

now what i'm wondering is, why just the slim? at least 3/4 of people with xboxes still have the old design style. I have non intention of getting it myself, but if I did, I still don't have a slim. marketers, think better.

this looks to be a favorite of basement dwellers everywhere. the constant evil red glow will really tie your gamer cave together. also, i give them props, they've created something that will proportionately color your ambience with a hue that will match the color of your face. i.e. if you suck, you're seein' fuckin RED!

@alecbeals In the article is says it is a "controller-rest". Why the hell you would want to rest your controller on the side of your 360 is beyond me. If they got rid of that it would look a lot better. Still pretty damned cool though.

The thing on the side is for your controller. You can put your controller on there, I'm pretty sure if you put it on it's side it would break :\
