Gears of War 2: War Journal Walkthrough

War Journal #28 - "Locust Terminal"

When you find the first set of Locust terminals in the game (kiosks with glowing yellow screens), accessing one will trigger a cutscene conversation between Marcus and Dom. Another one is turned off and the third counts as a war journal. It’s also the furthest back.

War Journal #29 - "Prisoner's Journal"

After following the Locust patrol and checking the second terminal in this mission, run behind the large vehicles here and look next to the coffin cell.

War Journal #30 - "Locust Jailer Document"

The mission starts you in a room with a lever. Head downstairs from that room, turn right and follow the path under a drawbridge. You’ll be forced to turn left and under a small stone arch. The war journal is on the floor, right past the arch. If you end up kicking down a door, you’ve gone way too far.

War Journal #31 - "Human Finger Necklace"

This is the trickiest journal in the entire game. At some point, you’ll enter a room and see a heavy gate closing slowly in front of you. Don’t worry about that one, but quickly run forward and turn right. Across from you, another gate will begin closing. You must roadie run across the room and make it underneath that gate before it’s too late. Inside is a war journal, as well as a very handy turret gun.

War Journal #32 - "Locust Calendar"

Pretty hard to miss. Exit the hanging tram in which you shot Reavers out of the air. Go up the long spiral staircase and look left. The glowing steering wheel across the room is actually a Locust calendar and this area’s war journal.

War Journal #33 - "Locust Defense Plans"

You’re in a large room, shooting down at enemies. At one point, you’ll cross a bridge and pull a lever to form a set of metal stairs. Search the back of the lever room for an ammo crate and war journal.

War Journal #34 - "Locust Invasion Map"

You've survived the palace entrance ambush and made your way to a side lift. While the rest of Delta squad waits for you to activate the elevator, continue down the curving path. At the foot of the second set of blocked and gated stairs on the right wall, you'll find the war journal.

War Journal #35 - "Trinity of Worms Artifact"

Reunite with Delta squad after choosing between the “upper path” or “lower path.” The game will want you to go down a spiral staircase outdoors, but head up the opposite stairs instead. Run down the long hallway, down another set of stairs and find the war journal at the bottom. It looks like a ninja star.

War Journal #36 - "Locust Tablets"

Leave the mission’s first room with all the monitor screens. In the second room, full of tall columns, Cole will begin yelling at the Locust Queen. The war journal here is in the far left corner.

The descriptions for #16 & 17 are reversed on page 2. The Help Wanted Ad is located before you reach Cole near the beginning of the level.
