Also known as: X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse [UK]
Marvel's merry mutants return in an epic action-RPG that comic fanboys and multiplayer adventurers will absolutely adore
Words: Raymond Padilla, GamesRadar US
If you can tolerate the game's dated graphics and irritating load times, there's a lot of fun to be had with X-Men Legends II. Playing it solo is a decent time, but playing it cooperatively is where things really shine. Even if you're not familiar with the X-Men, this is a good choice if you're looking to smash things with up to three of your pals. Comic fanboys just get the added bonus of swooning when obscure characters make a cameo.
You'll love
- The cooperative/online action is lots of fun
- Fanboys will love the story, characters, and inside shout outs
- The auto-upgrade feature makes cooperative and online play much friendlier
You'll hate
- Accessorizing is a forced attempt at adding depth
- The graphics are quite dated
- The load times are, almost inexcusably, bad
