Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

Gaming's best (and only) skateboarding franchise is still the one to beat

It's hardly Activision or Neversoft's fault, but the GameCube version does lack a few things that its cousins on other consoles offer - namely, online play. While PS2 and Xbox owners (both kinds!) can enjoy a dozen online games plus a free-skate mode that's basically a chat session on wheels, GameCube owners are left to split-screen gaming.

That would be fine if the graphics held up, but you'll spot a few dropped frames in single-player mode, and the textures look a little scruffier. It's hardly unplayable - you can still rip killer combos and fly on your board with the greatest of ease - but it does lack just a little by comparison. If you're not comparing, though, you won’t notice.
